Welcome

Old World Industrial furniture and objects recreated from abandoned materials.

Bio

I’ve been a visual artist for some thirty years now, and began fulfilling a lifelong need to build furniture in the last few years. Because I was raised abroad, my formative years were spent in European churches, museums and junk shops. My parents had impeccable taste, and acquired fantastic furniture and art, instilling within me a love of wood and craftsmanship.

Hardware and industrial machinery are every bit as beautiful to me as any other material, and combining metal and wood is the nexus of what I’ve named the "Old World Industrial" form.

In addition, I firmly believe that there are not seven, but only one, Deadly Sin: Waste. I cannot bear to see useful and beautiful material discarded, so I made a decision to build using only abandoned materials. Cut-offs, broken furniture, old doors and unidentifiable bits and pieces of metal are my materials of choice. My most recent piece, Piano Bench 58994, was constructed using wood and hardware from an upright piano that was headed for landfill.
